The Life of a Real Estate Agent
Most careers have a rather set in stone set of tasks that you strive to complete each day. Doctors come to work with the intent to treat patients and learn about new medical techniques. Firefighters go to work to put out fires or rescue people everyday. A hair stylist goes to work to style their clients hair. Real Estate agents are no different. In fact, they have quite a few tasks that they self manage everyday and have worked very hard to become licensed to do.
What does a real estate agent do?
Have you ever wondered what a real estate agent does everyday? It may seem as though they sit in an office and when they get a call they walk the people through a home, but that is not the case. Real estate agents are very busy people with complex workday schedules. In fact, they have many jobs on a daily basis.
Small Business Owner
While most careers have a boss that oversees the everyday work and guides the employees in the direction the company wants to follow, a real estate agent most likely runs their business as though it was their own small business. Most real estate agents do not have a boss that is directly overseeing what they do everyday with their time. There may a boss that helps manage the leads and direct people to an agent, but most of the time agents are left to run their ‘business’ however they feel they can do it most successfully. This is a big drawing factor to people when they become a licensed real estate agent.
Real estate agents are also marketing agents. Real estate agents not only help people buy homes, they are also helping clients sell their homes. In fact, they have to manage all aspects of their client listing their home for sale. They have to market their clients homes so they are seen by future buyers in order to be a successful realtor.
Realtors help guide their clients as a consultant towards the next phase of the buying process. A real estate agent isn’t capable of offering loans and all of the paperwork that comes with buying a home. They are licensed to sell you insurance for your new home either. However, they are prepared to act as your consultant to help you navigate the best locations to do the work that they are not able to help you with. They are aware of the steps that are required in order to purchase a home and they can give you personal recommendations on the best companies and individuals to work with when you are ready to move forward with the process. They have completed rigorous licensing and have studied to pass the exams so they know what they are doing.
As you can see, the life of a real estate agent is not a simple task. They are very busy people with many daily tasks. They are prepared to help you make the most of your homebuying experience and you should put your trust in them to guide you through the process.
